Principles of Dieter Design

Sometimes, I’m so concerned with the appearance of my ‘design’ that I forget that there are so many more principles that go into the product. My career is in skiwear. I translate the ‘design’ to the factory who builds it. I assure it is done to my employer’s corporate expectations. Looks Great. Salable. But how does one describe all those vague ideas that really come together in a good design?

Thank you SFMOMA for your current Dieter Rams Exhibit. It reminds me to think about the design, get inside it, and relook at it from the inside out, to look at it from a child’s position.
